Our Swiss guests and Jiwa Damai was invited to the wedding of one of the village chiefs’ son. A very exciting and elegant affair. The intricate clothing and make up of the groom and the bride, the decoration of the whole house takes at least a month to accomplish.

We hosted a 24 day yoga training retreat at Jiwa Damai organized by School Yoga Insitute, it was a most interesting and intense experience.

Yoga1

About 30 young people training day after day, getting up at 6 am to Meditate, then doing their Yoga postures, getting lectures about anatomy and sutras and much more. Our kitchen was working high speed, providing the vegetarian cuisine and many smoothies and of course, fresh coconut juice.
Yoga 2

It was a pleasure to see so many young people learning and exploring themselves through this training.
They will be back next year and are very much welcome.

“They say there is something magnetic about Jiwa Damai, well, we certainly found some magnetism! A magical place where magical things began to happen and this is just the beginning”. Justin Pelzer, Astrophysicist, from the US merged paths with Lavida Rose, Creative Consciousness Facilitator, from Australia in the nature-scape retreat of Jiwa Damai in December 2012, a year later on the solstice they will marry, in celebration of love and life itself!

Recently we had a group of  30 russian ladies staying at Jiwa Damai for 10 days.

The ladies chose our retreat to be the location for their Mandala Workshop on Bali.

This particular workshop was about embracing your femininity. The russian ladies in their beautiful colored clothes, mostly long skirts, spent their time at Jiwa Damai meditating and walking through our gardens and among the palm forest.

Most came directly for Russia and enjoyed the workshop and Bali very much. We at Jiwa Damai got excellent feedback on the beauty and serenity of the place and the excellent organic, mostly vegetarian cuisine we were able to provide. The language barrier was actually fun, since very few spoke little English.

Russian ladiesThanxs for staying at Jiwa Damai!

One of our guests, Simon Bradley, who stayed with us for 3 weeks wrote a beautiful article about Jiwa Damai, which is published on the website ‘weekend notes’.

What a find to unwind
Our needs were simple. We required a break in a secluded location to relax, meditate and detox. We had three weeks to spare but didn’t want to break the bank. Our search led us to Jiwa Damai Bali Retreat located about 20 minutes from Ubud, Bali.

One of the activities we offer to our guests is taking part in a cooking class with our Balinese cook.

From our Balinese cook you will learn about local dishes and ingredients, pick vegetables in our garden and learn how to prepare the dish. We mostly use fresh organic veggies from our permaculture garden.

This is the recipe for our chicken dish.
You’ll need the following ingredients:
Chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, chilli, lemon grass, salt, pepper and oil.

These ingredients are all mixed together and ground. The chicken is plugged into very small pieces, only the white meat is used. The tiny chicken pieces are  tossed into the uncooked herbal mixture and well mixed. Its taste  is utterly delicious.
The chicken is served with rice and veggies.
